Anyone who visited last week might be expecting to see a freshly dyed pile of yarn this week. Unfortunately the dye I ordered didn't arrive in time, so I will be dyeing it up this week and hopefully sharing it next Sunday.
I wanted something to share, so I worked up one of my teeny tiny pattern choices, Oisin owl by Pauline Gallagher is a speedy little project that only uses a tiny bit of yarn. Cabling and Irish moss stitch make two panels that you sew together to give a little 3D owl, he is about 3 inches tall.
I think I need to embroider some eyes on to make it more obvious that he is an owl, rather than a swimming costume for a barbie which was suggested by someone.
That's clever, it's quite obvious in my mind it isn't barbie swimsuit as it is not in barbie pink.
ReplyDeleteI can see the eyes and ears and beak well enough, what a nice project.
I think something to bring out the eyes would help; it did take me a minute to work out that it was an owl. Embroidery? Buttons? Safety eyes? Glued felt eyes? Whatever you think! It's cute though!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! And yes I imagine the eyes will be the finishing touch! Mind you, I can clearly see the owl there. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie .. can you post another pic of him when you do his eyes please? I love quickie projects - I think we all have a need for instant gratification at times. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you going to do with your cute little owl? 3 inches....you could make it into an ornament for a Christmas Tree?
ReplyDeleteAmazing how that was created from yarn!
ReplyDeleteI think your owl will be really cute with embroidered eyes - or really spooky, depending on how you make the eyes look!
