Tour de Fleece day 20

More of the same, but this time the single is finished!

This is the second half of the superwash merino from Shunklies. I finished it this morning, mostly because there was absolutely nothing to watch on the TV last night (until Sherlock came on, which was super) so I got a couple of hours spinning in. I finished it this morning and will ply it on Saturday.

It is pretty thin, I was aiming for a sock yarn weight when the two singles are plied together but I still think it might be underspun for socks, until it is plied and washed there is not way to tell.

Tomorrow is challenge day. I have some Wensleydale locks that I am going to try and comb and spin (using a dog comb and drop spindle). This may go ok, it may be a total disaster, I think I might go and do a little Googling to see what other people advise.

  3. I've been spinning locks on my drop spindle for novelty yarn and it's awesome (although extremely overspun and wiggly, since I'm new at this). I can't wait to see your results!

  4. Have fun with the Wensleydale, I've been enjoying spinning it straight from the lock! (You can see some of my finished yarn on my current Fiber Arts Friday post).

  5. Hooray for getting the singles finished. I know what you mean. There has been a few days where I didn't want to post because it was always the same photo.

  7. Such a pretty blue, reminds me of Caribbean waters. Nice spinning and I hope it is as thin as you want. I'm still having difficulty getting the thin right so that when I ply it's still thin, LOL I needs more practice I think.
