Another FO that has been done for ages but has been hanging around waiting for its turn on FO Friday (like months).
Pattern: Brioche Baby Hat by Connie Carroll
Yarn: Knitpicks Stroll
Needles: 3.0mm
Mods: I know I altered this a little, but it was so long ago that I can't remember, I am fairly sure I made it shorter than in the pattern.
This a nice pattern to work, and makes a very cute baby hat. The brioche stitch is not difficult, but I think it is much more effective when worked with two colours, in a single colour it just looks like a slightly odd looking rib (you know when you look at something and it looks odd, but you can't work out why?).
I love the yarn, it is one of my favourite sock yarns so far- machine washable, not too expensive, lovely colours, good fibre content, its only downfall is the ribbing on my sock could be springier, but that may be to do with my gauge on those. I am considering ordering some more as I am about 3 skeins short of having enough sock yarn for my whole alphabet.
A really terrible photo that shows the stitch but is an awful representation of the colour, it is a lovely bright red.
I have been doing some knitting, and even have a couple of FOs, but mostly I am spinning, today is the TdF challenge day so I will be off to try some Wensleydale locks in a minute.
Gorgeous! I really love that colour
ReplyDeleteLovely hat! The brioche stitch is really good!
ReplyDeleteIt's a very cute hat! It makes me want to try brioche stitch.
ReplyDeleteOooooh love the look of it! And what a cool stitch - really suits it well :) Have a great Friday!
ReplyDeletexo,
wink
Love the colour! The stitch is really awesome as well! See you next week!
ReplyDeleteThat came out lovely!! You said it's supposed to be red? How funny - it's looks pink but a very pretty pink!! You're stitches look great and thanks for the tip on the yarn, I've never tried that one!
ReplyDeleteThere are some colors that are just a huge pain to capture accurately. I'm always running pictures through photoshop to try to get them to look right. And even that doesn't always work.
ReplyDeleteLove that yarn! ..... haven't come across brioche stitch before ....
ReplyDeleteCute. Most cameras struggle with red; it very quickly becomes oversaturated and then all the detail is lost. You've done well, though, because the stitches are very clearly defined.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cute little hat, and a timely post because I was just starting to look around for a baby hat pattern! Thanks!
Awesome hat, I love that it's not a traditional color for a wee one. I like bright and pretty.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what "Sandy" said: I like the non traditional colors these days for baby items.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I love how bright it is. The stitches look great on the close up. Red is a nightmare to photograph.
ReplyDeleteReally lovely!
