Socks seem like a good place to start trying out my yarn dyeing skills, they are not a huge commitment in terms of yarn or time so if something all goes horribly wrong and the colours come out hideous its not the end of the world.
With this in mind I decided 2010 should be the year of the sock, with the intention of knitting a pair of socks a month as a way to try out different colourways.
As I am still waiting for a dye delivery, and in the theme of January cold days and yarn dieting the first pair are stash busting boot socks.
They are a simple pattern with a ribbed leg and foot for a snug fit, I did get a bit carried away with the heel flap but they are nice and comfy.
Next month it should be on to the hand dyed yarn, fingers crossed.
