This weekend I have the house to myself for the whole weekend, which means a lot of knitting :D
s
I figured this would be a good chance to give myself a bit of a challenge- some of the A-Z sock knitters have posted their FO within a couple of days of casting on so I thought I would see how far I could get in a weekend.
s
I also saw a blog post a while back about a knitting marathon, I can't find it to link to as Google brings up a load of other things, but I thought I could combine the two and give it a try.
s
From 8.30 I get 26 hours and 13 minutes and see how far I get (no definitive must finish). Obviously eating sleeping and pet feeding will all be in there too, but mostly knitting. I did feel this was a bit lazy and I should go out and do something energetic, but the weather is supporting me- it is raining today.
s
I will edit this post as I go.
s
8:28- toes to the start line, needles, pattern and yarn in hand.
12:50- leg for the first sock is done, the pattern is great, I love the zigzags but it is slower going that I had hoped. I think I will aim for one sock and maybe a knitted lemon in the 26hrs. Stopped for syrup waffles (a delicious biscuit/cookie that I have found, it seems to be mainly made from sugar :D)
14:00- heel flap done and heel turned
16.30- gusset decreases done. Loving this sock, still think it will be a single sock marathon.
The sun came out at some point here, which made me feel I should be doing something other than knitting, I compromised by doing some washing then hanging it on the line (rather optimistically).
17:00- Time for dinner, yum yum.
21:15- foot finished
22.20- toe finished and ends sewn in.
22.30- wrote this post, made slip knot
s
The first sock is done and on my foot, the fit is better with this one- the foot is the right length I think although the toe is a bit pointy. I would share a photo but my camera is currently in Scotland.
Simple maths shows that even if I didn't need to sleep there is no way I could get the second one done, but I will probably cast it on anyway, I might get it done by the end of the weekend.
s
about 23.45- Cuff done, time for some snooze
10.41- Leg of second sock finished, 2 minutes before I had planned to finish.
s
Quite pleased with how far I got, I had hoped to get them both done but the stitch pattern is much slower going than I thought it would be.
Go Halfpint, go Halfpint, go Halfpint!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely want to see a picture of these socks! When your camera gets home of course!
ReplyDeleteYeah congratz on getting 1 sock done! Hope your camera is having a good time in Scotland. At least you'll know it'll bring back pictures :P
