Knitting and crochet blog week day 4- A knitter for all seasons?

The post prompt for today asks how the climate and season where you live affects you knitting.

In all honesty I don't really find it does.

Anyone who knows my knitting obsession will know that I make a lot of socks. Since the UK is not exactly tropical handknit socks can be worn for most of the year. Any day that is too hot for handknit socks is probably a barefoot day anyway.

Socks in summer

Socks in winter

As a bonus they are small so even on hot days they are a good choice for a knitting project, better than being covered by a layer of woolly blanket as you stitch away.

Probably the only seasonal impact on my crafting is the festive one. I do try to be organised and make a few bits earlier in the year but somehow always end up casting on for more things when December rolls around.

Oh look. more socks. But these are gifting socks.

Even the non sock projects tend to be smaller ones so they can travel.

A last minute addition to the "to be made" list last year

  2. I LOVE that socks in summer photo. And it makes clear to me that I give away too many of my handknit socks!
