One a day

Because I like to sign up to thing on Ravelry and then hassle myself if I don't keep to them I have joined the "one a day" group. The idea is you pick a project and then you do one bit a day. You can set that bit however you like, it could be a row or a square or a crochet motif, or however your project breaks up.

With YOP and A-Z socks on the go I probably should not have joined the group, but I thought it would be a good way to give my sock yarn blanket some attention.

It goes through long periods of being neglected and at this rate I will never get it finished, so I am going to attempt to work one square and sew in one set of ends each day. I think this is doable as that is 30 minutes or less so I might make it a lunch time thing. If not I can always make it one a week.

It is a little bigger than this now, but I don't have a more recent photo. I have also slightly fallen out of love with it and am going through a phase of thinking it looks a bit like unicorn barf. This might be due to the enormous number of ends waiting to be sewn in at the back!

I think there will be a weekly update meme so I should be able to show off its progress, and maybe even be able to get it finished one day.

  1. Whenever I see these blankets I always figure - why not line the back, then you don't have to sew in any ends?! Maybe it's because I'm lazy though ;)

  3. I think this will be amazing WHEN you finish it, and is the perfect reason for joining the group!!! I was also going to suggest lining the back if it's dealing with the ends which is putting you off.

  4. I think it's a lovely blanket and it's going to look amazing once it's finished! I'm sure that as you add more (and sew the ends in) you'll fall back in love with it again! :)

  5. I think it would be amazing to do something like this, although I am not sure I would be fascinated in sewing in ends, its my only dislike of crocheting and knitting...

  8. I never thought of sewing a lining on, to forestall weaving in the ends ... brilliant!! I must try that!

  9. It's lovely! So either unicorn barf is beautiful or this doesn't look like unicorn barf! I'd love to see this finished!

  10. This is exactly the blanket I have been collecting sock ends for. I'm a little frightened to cast it on because I think it might become addictive.

  15. Lovely lovely, lovely, but completely get your fear of ends, I have endophobia too and it is probably why I dislike my little hex blanket so much. Have fun!
