Day six, I actually found it harder to think of something for today than yesterday. The topic is "something you aspire to", which is fairly self explanatory.
s
I subscribe to the no knitting is hard, it my be fiddly and make you cross, it may take a long time, but it is not actually impossible point of view, so choosing something to put in here was tricky.
s
I have mentioned a few times (ok, a lot of times) that I want to master colourwork, so I aspire to that.
s
I would also like to make it all the way through the A-Z knitting challenge. I am half way through G and am keeping up so far but I would like to make it to the end (work permitting obviously). Here are the A socks, because I don't like to post without pictures.
s
Reaching the bottom of my scrap bag would be great. This is slower going than I thought it would be, but I do seem to have made a bit of a dent. I think this year will be all about socks and scraps.
s
Pattern wise I am going to give the Hemlock ring blanket by Jared Flood a try once I get through my scrap down. It has been in my queue for ages and I was gifted a huge ball of yarn so it seems like a good chance to try it from a hopefully continuous length of yarn, meaning no joins to hide.
s
There was a similar topic last year, I mentioned the Heere Be Dragone shawl by Sharon Winsauer. I still think it is amazing, but am not likely to make it as I can't think when I would ever use it. Or if I did I would scrunch it up into a scarf which is a crime beyond all imagining. I really am beginning to doubt my own knit worthiness! s
s Obviously the major aspiration is to take over the indie dying world with my little Folksy shop, and maybe have a lovely real life yarn shop, perhaps a bit like this one (this is Yarn in Beeston):
s
OK, I admit I do not need to take over the whole world, but a little chunk of it would be lovely. s
s
Ohhhh, and if we are choosing everything we want I would like an alpaca (or several), hmmm, and maybe a few sheep of various breeds- I think I need a bigger garden!
You and I need a chat about world domination.... or featuring your yarn on my podcast! We all need to start somewhere!
ReplyDeleteLOL...You'd need a couple alpaca, as they are pack animals and a "guard" llama for the pack...I'm just taking over the buying of yarn...
ReplyDeleteI've had Hemlock in my queue for ages, too. It's such a lovely pattern.
ReplyDeleteAnd that Dragons shawl IS amazing but I'm not sure where I'd wear that, either. Sometimes it's just nice to look and appreciate, I guess.
What an interesting challenge, that A-Z. Does that just involve socks? That dragon shawl is pretty cool! I wonder if there is a way to knit that in thicker yarn and make it into a cape w/fabric for a little boy?
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great list. I like the yarn shop idea very much. The Hemlock ring blanket is a gorgeous pattern to aspire to.
