I am being super organised! Between A-Z socks I am working on WIPs, so by the end of next month they should all be done. I am not sure what I will do then for FO Fridays, lots of small things maybe.

This lace scarf has been on the go for ages, it has been named Florence because its blue and spent part of its life in a hospital.

Pattern: Articulation scarf by Johanna Marshall
Needles: 3.75mm, I used a two dpns, but that is just because they were the right size.
Yarn: Hand dyed silk and merino lace weight. This was a stash clearing project, there was about 50g and I used it up to the very last couple of inches.

This is a great pattern, easy to work and remember. It is not totally unlike the one row lace scarf pattern which I also enjoyed working. What I learnt from this though is that I am not a fan of lace weight, it took so long to finish and what seems like a simple pattern becomes boring after a while- I kept wandering off to other projects. I am pleased with the end result but I think if I were making it again I would use a 4ply sock yarn weight and work fewer stitches.

I have been umming and ahhing about whether to block and decided not to. Generally lace is the only thing I do block so I may change my mind. However, I have stretched it sideways a little and am not keen on the look, also I don't fancy pinning it out/threading wires through so it shall stay as it is.

The weekly sock yarn blanket square is being moved to earlier in the week, maybe Mondays.
It's gorgeous! I love the blue. I have admit, I am still learning about blocking. I haven't done much with lace (it's still on the needles buried somewhere)but my recent cowls required it. There is a lot to learn with that too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting organized...what a way to start a new year!
Happy Fiber Arts Friday!
That lace looks so beautiful and soft. Love it. Amazing color also. <3
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work!
ReplyDeleteWow, it's beautiful! I think it looks great right now, unblocked. Sometimes you can clearly tell if something needs to be blocked, and this isn't one of them.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty blue! Good for you working through your WIP collection and finishing them up. It frees up energy and space for more new projects.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I agree that it looks great unblocked. I wish I was as organized. : )
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty scarf! Love the blue. I don't think it needs to be blocked either. I totally agree with you on the lace weight yarn...it feels like you are knitting in slow motion.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very pretty scarf.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely color. Maybe you could just wash and stretch it very gently without pins or wires-- you might like the look better than full-on blocking.
