A second post today as I thought a flash your stash did not really count as a "what have you been up to in the world of fibre". Also a new font and a possible over use of inverted commas (or "bunny ears" as I like to call them, that was an excuse to add more).

I am still on my campaign to use up the neglected little part balls rather then letting them languish unloved in my stash- the scrap down. That was part of my motivation for this mini project. I will admit that the main motvation was that it is an excuse to say the word "ball sack" quite a lot, yes I am in fact that immature :D.

The project is Ball Sack by Jennifer Sugarman (see, it really is called that!), I used some of the leftovers from my midnight mitts. What you make it a stretchy little net bag, which holds your centre pull balls neatly and stops them going all floppy when the middle has been pulled out. Or at least it contains the floppiness. It's actually works quite well, so not just an excuse to say the name!

This photo shows the net effect a little better, but is not really an "in action" picture as the bright blue is being worked from the outside. I promise it does work, the end of the dark purple is stored in it at the minute, but that would have made a lousy picture.

That's an excellent idea. Thank you so much for sharing. I have many little leftover yarns and this would make a great holiday gift project for knitting friends.
ReplyDeleteCute and very handy!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteSo far I haven't had much scrap yarn mostly because I knit from my handspun but...I am keeping this project as a possible future project.
Hmmm. What a good idea. I actually have tons and tons and tons of little scrap yarn that would work quite well in one of those. Awesome.
